Congressman Warren Davidson (OH-08) released the following statement concerning Senator Schumer's shutdown of the government.
#FundAmerica “It’s disappointing that Democrats in the Senate chose to play politics and let CHIP funding expire for 8.9 million recipients across ten different states today, a program they claim to support. Their actions are diminishing the positive effects of President Trump’s tax reform and now they are holding members of our military and low-income children’s health insurance hostage, over DACA. Due to the Senate's 60 vote rule, it is incumbent on Democratic Senators to reject Schumer's failed leadership and end the broken status quo. FUND AMERICA!!
"After passing ALL spending bills on September 14, 2017 the House passed its fourth extension bill (Continuing Resolution) on Thursday night to prevent a shutdown. The Senate failed to get 60 votes. Perhaps they could get 51? The real deadline to fund the government was October 1, 2017. Meanwhile, the President's deadline for DACA is March 5, 2018. There is no excuse for the Senate's failure."
