WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Donald Trump today signed an executive order that requires the EPA and other relevant agencies to review the Waters of the United States Rule (WOTUS) and “ensure it promotes economic growth and minimizes regulatory uncertainty.” Congress previously voted to abolish the rule, which was vetoed by then President Barack Obama.
Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) released the following statement:
“The Waters of the US Rule would have regulated practically all bodies of water in the country including the puddle that sometimes forms in your driveway. President Trump’s move marks the beginning of the end of a long battle over gross executive overreach on part of the Obama Administration. I am glad to see the will of the people respected once again. I look forward to Congress passing legislative action stopping this abuse in the future.”
