The Supreme Court today in Texas Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt struck down a common sense health and safety law for Texas abortion facilities. Regarding the Court’s decision, newly elected Congressman Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) made the following statement:
“I am deeply disappointed by the Court’s decision to undermine the safety and health of women by striking down the Texas law. These common-sense requirements would have ensured that abortion facilities are up to date with basic medical standards.”
“Due to the poor enforcement of already low standards, abortionist Kermit Gosnell operated an abortion clinic in Philadelphia that resulted in the death of a young woman. If the pro-abortion lobby really was concerned about women’s health, it would welcome these requirements that facilities meet basic sanitation codes and have admitting privileges to a hospital in case of emergency. Their efforts to undermine these laws show that their priority never has been the safety of women but instead that they are willing to sacrifice women and girls at the altar of their pro-abortion agenda.”
