I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution when I enlisted in the Army and again when I was sworn into Congress. It is an oath I take seriously.
The Constitution protects our rights and limits the power of the federal government. Congress too often passes laws beyond its constitutional authority or delegates its power to the administrative state. Presidents of both parties have also relied too heavily on executive orders to govern by pen.
America is exceptional because it is founded on enduring principles. So long as we stand by the Constitution, we will continue to thrive as a nation.
I will not vote for any law that is not constitutionally justified. Protecting the Constitution cannot be left to the Supreme Court alone. Every branch of government has a duty to uphold it, and Congress must push back when another branch veers off course.
