WASHINGTON, D.C.—On Monday the White House presented its FY2021 Federal Budget.
Prominent features of the budget include funding for a wall across the U.S. southern border, extension of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which has been pivotal for our sustained economic success, and new funding for lunar and space exploration.
The budget also makes needed reductions to non-defense discretionary spending, restrains growth in defense spending, and critically, presents an attempt to balance the budget.
Following the plan’s release, Congressman Warren Davidson (R-OH) remarked:
“I applaud the priorities that President Trump set in his proposed budget. They reflect the values of the American electorate: strong national security close to home; a flourishing economy; and a smaller federal government. However, I have concerns about how we as a country are going to pay for it.
“America cannot ignore that our country is staring down the barrel of trillion-dollar deficits. The time to balance the budget is now. Our economy has never been stronger. Congress needs to sustain the pro-growth reforms that have it finally growing and exercise discipline to reduce excessive spending. Don’t bankrupt America!”
