WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today the House passed H.R. 3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act of 2019. The bill passed on a mostly party-line vote (230-192).

Upon walking off the floor, Rep. Davidson said:

“I’m disappointed that the House voted to pass partisan legislation that won’t address the underlying cause of high prescription drugs costs in the United States: Americans are prescribed and take more prescription drugs than other countries, making them more expensive.

“Imposing price controls based on other nations’ drug costs will only stifle medical innovation in the United States and could see some pharmaceutical companies take certain drugs off the market. I’m interested in voting for legislation that can be enacted and address these issues.”
