On Friday, August 12, U.S. District Judge Michael Barrett blocked Ohio's recently-enacted law to divert taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood.

Congressman Warren Davidson (R-OH) released the following statement:

"Unelected judges have no right in this instance to override the will of the people of Ohio and their elected representatives in Columbus. No private entity has a right to taxpayer dollars. The people of Ohio deserve to live in good conscience knowing that their tax dollars are not going to support abortions, and particularly the nation's number one provider of abortions, Planned Parenthood.

"The power of the purse is one of the few remaining incontrovertible powers of state legislatures and Congress, and allowing unelected judges to second guess these deliberate funding decisions threatens the balance of powers that is so integral to our system of government, both at the state and federal level.

"Judge Barrett's decision and similar decisions make it all the more necessary that Congress embrace Article I duties of limited government, while holding other branches accountable."‎
