WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Representative Warren Davidson (R-OH) introduced the Stop the Cartels Act.

Following Congressman Davidson’s introduction of the bill, he stated, “Criminal cartels control drug, sex, and human trafficking in America and fuel the crisis on the southern border. Tens of thousands of Americans die because of these drugs or live in fear due to the cartels’ illicit activity. My Stop the Cartels Act designates the cartels as enemies of our country, targets them for intelligence collection and sanctions, and motivates Mexico to crack down on cartel-related activities.”

“As America remains divided over immigration reform, we should at least agree to stop the cartels!”

The Stop the Cartels Act will:

  • Designate the cartels as enemies of the U.S.
  • Impose harsh sanctions on cartels and broaden sanctions to include individuals, companies, and governments who provide support to cartels
  • Hold Mexico accountable for weakened intelligence sharing by reducing foreign aid and demanding cooperation with U.S. law enforcement
  • Require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to release extensive monthly reports on the status and number of migrants entering the country
  • End family detainment separation during pending immigration proceedings
  • Defund Sanctuary Cities and requiring DHS to enforce immigration laws
  • Increase funding for states to tackle the opioid epidemic
