Washington, D.C. – Congressman Warren Davidson (OH08) today released the following statement after voting no on H.R. 1112, a bill that would indefinitely extend the 3 day wait period for a background check that precedes the sale of a firearm.

“Indefinitely extending the waiting period to purchase a firearm would deny countless Americans of their fundamental Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Congress should focus on making the background check process operate with greater efficiency, accuracy and fairness. This legislation fails to solve problems.”

Congressman Davidson has advocated fixing the Constitutional problems associated with the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) where government agencies are arbitrarily adding names to the background checklist absent due process.
