WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Warren Davidson released the following statement after he voted “no” on Tile III of the House Democrat majority’s rules package, H. Res. 6, which appoints Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi as chief legal defender of Obamacare.

“Giving Speaker Nancy Pelosi a no-limit credit card to spend on lawyers, is a waste of taxpayer dollars on a political stunt. This does nothing to protect coverage for those with pre-existing conditions. It does nothing to ramp down health care costs for everyday Americans. Meanwhile, the average individual premium payer is still too high and rising too swiftly thanks to Obamacare.

“We need a health care system that works for all Americans, including those with pre-existing conditions. Obamacare is not that system. Previous Republican reforms explicitly maintained pre-existing condition protections and worked to lower costs. Today’s vote is only the latest sign that Democrats in the House would rather play politics than find real solutions.”

The Democrats proposed rule change empowers Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to draw on House resources to intervene in legal cases to defend Obamacare. This includes the Texas et al vs. U.S. case, where a federal judge in Texas ruled Obamacare unconstitutional.

The average premiums for those in the individual marketplace have increased nearly $250 each month thanks to Obamacare.
