WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Warren Davidson (OH-08) released the following statement after the Senate’s 88-11 vote supporting a non-binding motion on Senator Corker’s bill to limit tariffs.

"Today’s Senate vote is another indication that there’s a strong appetite in Congress for working with the President on trade.

"International trade is essential to American leadership in the global economy. I fully support President Trump’s efforts to head-off bad trade policies and unfair trading practices. However, I remain concerned that the President is not well-served by Peter Navarro, whose approach has been poorly planned and poorly communicated.

"The Global Trade Accountability Act is about reinforcing, improving, and shielding good trade deals from bad ones, not restricting the President’s constitutional authority to negotiate. Unlike Senator Corker’s bill which is retroactive, the Global Accountability Act is intended to strengthen U.S. negotiations, not disrupt them."
