WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Warren Davidson, member of the Financial Services Committee, released the following statement praising a move by President Trump to withdraw from an outdated postal treaty that gives countries like China and Singapore an unfair advantage, and floods U.S. markets with cheaper e-commerce packages.

“Canceling this antiquated 144-year-old postal treaty is good news for Ohio families and American companies. This outdated and unfair arrangement feeds the flood of counterfeit goods and supplies smugglers running drugs on our streets. We should have a fair and free playing field with the countries we trade with instead of subsidizing their shipping costs," said Congressman Davidson.

Congressman Davidson has been a leading voice in the House on issues concerning trade. Last month, Congressman Davidson joined a delegation trip to China where he and other members of the Financial Services Committee met with top Chinese officials about trade issues. He also met with White House trade adviser Peter Navarro to discuss the China trip and other issues concerning trade.
