WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Warren Davidson (OH-08) released the following statement after President Trump signed the final version of the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act into law. The NDAA included one of Davidson’s amendments that would give military services like the Air Force more say in the potential closure or cuts to services at medical facilities, including the Wright-Patterson Medical Center.

“After years of cuts and delays, this NDAA ensures that our troops have the equipment and resources they need to keep us safe from an increasingly violent world. I am grateful that President Trump signed this bill into law which works to undo the self-imposed readiness crisis put in place years ago. Years of funding reductions and threats of base closures and relocations have decimated the readiness of our military, so I want to thank my colleagues in the House for including my amendment to curb these threats in the final version of this bill.”

The Dayton Daily News reported the “Air Force could have more say in Wright-Patterson hospital’s future under bill.” Before it was signed into law by President Trump, the 2019 NDAA passed both houses of Congress with overwhelming bipartisan support. The House vote was 359-54 while the Senate vote was 87-10.
