WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Warren Davidson (OH-08) released the following statement after the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act failed to pass the Senate, a bill he co-sponsored in the House.

“It’s disappointing to see the Senate not pass a bill that protects babies from suffering. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act would have made great strides protecting unborn babies from the violence of abortion. It’s unfortunate he United States remains one of only seven countries worldwide who allow elective abortions after 20 weeks post-fertilization.”

Representative Warren Davidson is a co-sponsor to H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act which passed the House in October 2017. First introduced in 2015, this bill would end late-term abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, when scientists have determined that unborn babies are able to feel pain inside the womb, some as early as 18 weeks. In addition, this bill provides exceptions to save the life of the mother.
