WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Warren Davidson (OH-08) today released the following statement after signing a discharge petition that would force consideration of the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This bill ensures that any infant born alive after a failed or attempted abortion receives the same protection of law as any other newborn, and it penalizes doctors who willfully allow such infants to die or who intentionally kill a newborn.

“Comments by New York and Virginia lawmakers suggesting that it is ok for a doctor to willfully allow a newborn child to die after birth, are barbaric and reprehensible,” said Congressman Davidson. “Such a view is rightly shocking to the moral conscience of countless Americans. Just as astounding and regrettable is the unwillingness of the current House leadership to condemn infanticide. Life is precious. Congress should support laws in defense of newborn babies—truly the most innocent and defenseless among us. This issue should not be partisan. Speaker Pelosi needs to allow a recorded vote on this issue.”
